What Can I Expect When I Receive a Massage?
A complete health screen, including current medications, must be disclosed and discussed with the therapist before a session is started. The therapist’s policy statement must also be reviewed and signed.
Expect to have the massage therapist concentrate on your well-being for the entire session. At the beginning of the session the therapist will discuss the areas of discomfort you are experiencing and will utilize appropriate massage modalities to relieve any stress or tension you are having in those areas.
You will be covered at all times during the session, with only the area that is being massaged exposed. The therapist will leave the room while you undress. You may decide to leave some or all of your clothes on, depending on your comfort level.
You are encouraged to communicate minimally throughout the session to enhance the relaxation effects of the session. The therapist will inquire about the correct level of pressure and overall comfort you are experiencing but don’t feel obligated to make small talk. This is your time to relax and enjoy as you listen to relaxing music.
Drink plenty of water after the session to help flush out the bodily toxins released by the massage.
